Love Me For Myself (2021) I dream in RGB, Footage by Centre for Projection Art
Gertrude Street Projection Festival 2021
The moving image Love Me For Myself is Andrea Draper’s response to the 2021 Gertrude Street Projection Festival rationale ‘PAST PRESENTs FUTUREs.’
Curator Jacob Tolo asked artists participating in the festival to fast forward 500 years into the future. Artist’s created hypothetical visions beyond the now and considered the importance of constructs such as colour, race, gender, sexuality, age, ability, class and nationality.
I dream in RGB’s projection represents a speculative choice to externally embody oneself as a personification of a mood, notion or inkling. The title is imbued with paradox because in this future you can characterise yourself in unlimited ways, therefore potentially never revealing your true self.
